Once we were shown our well-furnished roomy individual cabin, we met the other guests at the main lodge and enjoyed coffee, tea and a home baked cake. We were taken aback by the quality and variety of the cuisine that we experienced there. The staff demonstratively took great pride in all the work that they had done and in the service delivery. We did game drives at different times of the day, in the very early or later morning, afternoons and early evenings. One of the highlights was walking with Peter, the ranger. These were educational experiences where we not only learned in detail about game and how to read spoor, but also about plants, insects and birds. The owners made us feel as if we were guests in their house and cared for our every need. read less

It wasn't only because of staying in a beautiful wilderness reserve, far away from often too busy lifestyle, but also being looked after by inspiring with their knowledge & love for nature/life hosts.
It is honestly a lovely place to relax. Warm and really friendly staff; always fresh & presented in a beautiful way delicious meals; very comfortable, rustic cottages (not luxurious, but this is just great if you are looking to connect with nature).
If big five isn't your goal and you are keen to discover African bush in a different way, then Sigurwana is the place you should visit. Really recommend joining Liesel/Peter for a walk and visiting ancient yellowwood forest. I just loved it and i will never forget its atmosphere. Thank you Liesel and Neil for having me on your farm. We had a fantastic time with wonderful people. We enjoyed great meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, bush cappuccino, sundowner, etc. The lodge is located in the middle of pure nature far away from any human influence. We discovered the bush together with Peter, Neil and Liesel and they showed us beautiful places. We met the giraffes, the zebras, the impalas, the kudus, … And after we came back to the lodge a fresh cake and a bush cappuccino or any other tasty snack was prepared for us by the sigurwana angels. We learned a lot about this part of South Africa, the people living there, the nature, the animals and the spirit of this unique place close to heaven. It was an unforgettable great stay and we would repeat it at any time. read less

It is a fantastic landscape around Sigurwana. The last 1 1/2 hours drive to the lodge is already an adventure - a nice one!
The cottages are nice - shower outside with always warm water. Warm beds and enough space.
Highlight is the warm hospitality. The owners are always around, asking for your wishes, making good proposals and you have a very familiar breakfast and dinner with them - also on special places . The crew, starting with the excellent ranger is really more than friendly and helpful. You feel immediately at home.
We made every day 2 tours.
If you have your focus on landscape, hospitality and not on looking for the big five - it is the best place.
Of course you can see a lot of animals like giraffe, impala, leopard, zebras, gnu, baboons, monkeys, eagle etc., but no lions, elephants and rhinos
For us - best choice !!

After an incredible week in beautiful and hip Cape Town we headed to Sigurwana to see if it would be... read moreAfter an incredible week in beautiful and hip Cape Town we headed to Sigurwana to see if it would be possible to repeat our experience from the previous year but this time with the kids. From Cape Town we took a flight to Polokwane and drove to Louis Trichardt, where we were picked up by the owner.
We could not be more thrilled, since our arrival we met the same team as last year and they showed the same level of dedication and personal touch that immediately made us feel completely at ease.
At Sigurwana we found once more a sense of perfect balance between peace and excitement that is so rare to find nowadays. We stayed at a newly built tent which I was taken aback on how truly beautiful it was, a very luxurious and comfy setting even with a bathtub in the master bathroom, this in the middle of the bush!!
On the first day we woke up and upon opening the tent we saw a dozen of impalas at our door and baboons 300 feet away just looking at us like giving us a warm welcome.
The following days we saw so many more animals that were hard to keep track of them.The kids were ecstatic and truly loved every minute of it.
I cannot forget to mention the food, I only wish I had the chance to have these dishesin our town in US, and the desserts... oh my....
We left Sigurwana with a mixed feeling such as when you are saying goodbye to a very special place, sad because we were leaving but really happy as we had the chance to see even more beautiful things than we saw the previous year and also because our kids were exposed to this magical new world. read less

Stunning location with a magnificent host who make your stay extra special.
The Staff makes you special upon arrival at the lodge.
The owners took us on personalized walks and we had some stunning sundowners in the middle of 'no where'.
The game is free to roam and you might wake up in the middle of the night as a bushbaby walks over the roof of your chalet.
We enjoyed the outside showers and simply being so close to nature.
We have been travelling in South Africa extensively but our stay at Sigurwana is simply unmatched!
You don't feel like you are just a paying guest but a friend! A good friend that is!
Wish we could have spend the lock-down during CoVid 19 at the lodge... Can't wait to spend another special time at Sigurwana! read less
